Is this transcript builder really free?
Yes. Free, no account, no signup. It runs entirely in your browser. Homeschools, microschools and co-ops hit the transcript wall when their first student applies to college, and Pearspark would rather be the one that helped.
Does my student's data get uploaded anywhere?
No. Every name, course and grade you enter stays in your own browser's local storage. It is never sent to Pearspark or anyone else. Pearspark has no agreement with you to hold student records, so it doesn't. Clearing the tool, or your browser data, erases it.
How is the GPA calculated?
Unweighted GPA uses the standard 4.0 scale (A/A+ 4.0, A− 3.7, B+ 3.3, B 3.0, and so on), weighted by each course's credits rather than by course count. Weighted GPA adds 0.5 for honors courses and 1.0 for AP or dual-enrollment courses; a failing grade never gets a bonus. Cumulative GPA is computed across every course at once, not by averaging the yearly GPAs.
Will colleges accept a homeschool or microschool transcript?
Generally yes. Colleges routinely accept parent- or school-issued transcripts from homeschools and small private schools, especially alongside test scores and course descriptions. What they expect is a clear, consistent document: school name, student name, courses grouped by year with credits and grades, a stated grading scale, cumulative GPA and total credits, and a signature. This tool produces all of that. Check each college's own admissions requirements.
What is a credit?
One credit (a Carnegie unit) normally means a full-year high school course; a semester course is 0.5. Most US states expect somewhere between 20 and 24 credits to graduate, but the number is set by your state and, for private schools, often by the school itself. Check your own state's rule.
Can I come back and finish it later?
Yes. Your work is saved in this browser automatically, so a refresh or a closed tab won't lose it. It is saved only on this device and in this browser, though. It will not follow you to your phone. Transcripts that persist across devices and staff are what Pearspark does.
