Back out of a volunteer shift
A screen recording of Pearspark doing exactly this in a sample school, and the same 5 steps written out below in the labels you'll see on screen.
How to back out of a volunteer shift
- 1Click Volunteering in the portal menu — it sits under More when the top row is full.
- 2Under "Your upcoming schedule", find the shift you can no longer make — each row shows the position, event, time, and location.
- 3Click "Can't make it" on that row.
- 4The shift leaves your schedule and the spot opens back up for the office to refill.
- 5Changed your mind? While the spot is still free, it's back under "Open spots" — click "Sign up" to take it again. If your school schedules volunteers itself, ask the office instead.
Part of Volunteers & service hours
Post the jobs a term actually needs, let families claim a spot or answer a direct request, keep fingerprint clearances current, and hand the board an hours report at year end.
