Chat one-to-one with a parent or a colleague

How to chat one-to-one with a parent or a colleague
- 1Click Messages in the sidebar — it opens on the Chats tab
- 2Click New chat, type the child's name in "Search a child, parent, or colleague…" and press Enter
- 3Pick a parent listed under the child — the line under each name says how they'll hear about it
- 4Type in "Write to {Name}…" and press Enter or click Send — it goes to that parent alone
- 5For a colleague, click New chat and pick them under Colleagues
- 6A parent who writes to you from the portal shows up in Chats with Parent under their name — answer in the same box
- 7New chat lists the families of your own students; to write a whole class at once, use School mail
