Grade a class by a checklist each period instead of assignments
A screen recording of Pearspark doing exactly this in a sample school, and the same 8 steps written out below in the labels you'll see on screen.
How to grade a class by a checklist each period instead of assignments
- 1Click Settings in the Administration section of the sidebar, open the Modules & campuses tab, tick Rubrics, then click Save changes
- 2Click Rubrics in the Learning section of the sidebar, then "New rubric"
- 3Fill in "Rubric name" and pick the grade scale whose levels your report card uses under "Levels"
- 4Click Write a skill… and type each statement; click "Add a skill" for the next row, then click Create rubric
- 5Click Classes in the Learning section, open the class, then More and "Edit class"
- 6Set "Graded by" to Rubric, one checklist per grading period, and click Save changes — a "Progress reports" button appears on the class page
- 7Click Progress reports, pick the checklist under Checklist for {period}, and click Use this checklist — each period can have its own
- 8When every child is done, the teacher clicks Lock checklists for report cards on the Progress reports page or in the Gradebook — until then families see none of it and the Report cards button stays off
