Record a student's service plan

A screen recording of Pearspark doing exactly this in a sample school, and the same 10 steps written out below in the labels you'll see on screen.

How to record a student's service plan

  1. 1Go to Students and open the student
  2. 2Open the "Services" tab
  3. 3On the "Service plans" card, click "Add a plan"
  4. 4Choose the "Plan type" (IEP, 504 plan, Speech / language plan, Behavior plan, or Other plan) and "Status" (Active, Pending, Expired, Exited services)
  5. 5Fill "Held by" — usually the public district where the authoritative copy lives
  6. 6Set "Effective", "Next review" (this drives the reviews-due list), and "Last evaluation" dates
  7. 7Check the services the student receives (Speech / language, Occupational therapy, Reading support, Counseling, Classroom aide, and more)
  8. 8Write the "Accommodations" — what staff must actually do; this is the only part teachers see, so keep it free of diagnosis
  9. 9Add "Internal notes" if needed, then click "Save plan"
  10. 10Use "Edit" or "Remove" on a plan's row to update it later

Part of Student records & compliance

Add or import students, print a complete records packet when a family transfers, bring years of academic history in from CSV, and audit every change in the activity log.
