Find at-risk students, missing work and the grading backlog

A screen recording of Pearspark doing exactly this in a sample school, and the same 10 steps written out below in the labels you'll see on screen.

How to find at-risk students, missing work and the grading backlog

  1. 1Click Classes in the Learning section of the sidebar and open your class
  2. 2Click Gradebook at the top right of the class page
  3. 3Click Analytics beside Gradebook at the top; it opens on the same grading period, and the dropdown beside it switches periods (Analytics is also under More on the class page)
  4. 4Read "Class average" (average, median, spread, range) and "Grade distribution" by band
  5. 5"At risk" lists everyone below the line, lowest first; the line starts at the lowest passing band on your grade scale
  6. 6Type a higher percent in the At risk box and click Apply to move the line; nothing is saved
  7. 7"Top performers" lists everyone in your top band
  8. 8"Missing work" counts past-due work with no score that isn't excused, the same count families see in the portal; click a name to open that child
  9. 9"Hardest assignments" shows the work with the lowest class averages
  10. 10Under "Grading backlog", see each past-due assignment with scores left to enter, then click Open the gradebook

Part of Gradebook, report cards & transcripts

Enter grades in a spreadsheet-style grid, post them once, and watch report cards and transcripts assemble themselves — plus the What-If views families use on their side.
