Say who covers each class while a teacher is out
A screen recording of Pearspark doing exactly this in a sample school, and the same 8 steps written out below in the labels you'll see on screen.
How to say who covers each class while a teacher is out
- 1Click People then Teachers in the sidebar, then click Sub packet at the top of the page
- 2Pick the absent teacher from the Teacher dropdown
- 3Set First day to the day the teacher is out and leave Last day (optional) blank, because cover is assigned one day at a time
- 4Click Build packet
- 5In the Coverage panel above the printable sheet, each of the teacher's classes that day has a Who covers dropdown; Suggested names rank free colleagues, co-teachers and teachers who already know these students first, and anyone busy or marked unavailable is listed in a Busy / unavailable group with the reason
- 6Pick a name from the Who covers dropdown, type a Note for the packet (optional), and click Save; the row turns to Covered by that name
- 7On the next class, click a name on the Suggested line to save that cover in one step
- 8When every class has cover, click Print / Save as PDF; the names print on the packet and show on Today strips
Part of Staff, time clock & substitutes
Staff clock in and out and ask for time off; you fix a punch, send the pay period to payroll, keep each teacher's clearance on file, and say who covers a class.
