Import your whole book catalog from a spreadsheet

A screen recording of Pearspark doing exactly this in a sample school, and the same 8 steps written out below in the labels you'll see on screen.

How to import your whole book catalog from a spreadsheet

  1. 1Click Library under Library & resources in the sidebar.
  2. 2Click More in the page header.
  3. 3Click Import CSV — the "Import books from a spreadsheet" dialog opens.
  4. 4Click "Download the blank CSV template" and fill it in, one row per title: Title (required), Author, ISBN, Publisher, Year, Category, Call Number, Copies, Barcode, Condition, Description. A blank Copies cell means one copy. Leave Barcode blank and Pearspark issues one for every copy.
  5. 5Choose your file under CSV file and click Preview. Nothing is written yet — the preview lists each new title with its copies.
  6. 6Read the preview: a title already in the catalog (same ISBN, or same title and author) appears under "Copies added to titles already in the catalog" — its copies are added to the existing record instead of creating a duplicate.
  7. 7Click Import. The panel says what came in.
  8. 8If it was the wrong file, click Undo this import (available for 24 hours) to roll the whole batch back.

Part of Library, resources & reservations

Barcode labels you print yourself, a scan station for checkout, holds families place from home, shared equipment reserved with dates instead of arguments — and the textbooks, shelf counts, and supply cupboard that come with all of it.
