Record a custody arrangement for a student

A screen recording of Pearspark doing exactly this in a sample school, and the same 10 steps written out below in the labels you'll see on screen.

How to record a custody arrangement for a student

  1. 1Click Students under People in the sidebar and open the child's record
  2. 2Click the Family tab — the Custody card sits beside the guardians
  3. 3On the Custody card, click "Add the arrangement" (it reads Edit once something is written)
  4. 4In "Custody arrangement — <student>", fill "The arrangement" — the schedule, who picks up, what the office should ask about first
  5. 5Under Flags, tick "Pickup restrictions apply" to show a reminder at the sign-out desk, and/or "Records access restrictions apply"
  6. 6Click Save — the card shows the summary line, the warning badges, and "Last updated by … on …"
  7. 7In the Documents box on the card, click Attach
  8. 8Fill "What is it?" (e.g. "2024 parenting plan") and pick a Type — Court order, Parenting plan, Guardianship papers or Other document; Starts and Ends are optional
  9. 9Choose the file (a PDF or photo, up to 10 MB) and click Attach — the document is stored encrypted and every time somebody opens it is logged
  10. 10Follow the "Who may pick up <name> →" link to the Sign in / out page to edit the actual pickup list — the custody card never changes it
