Third-party directories GetApp and SoftwareAdvice both list a starting price of $1.00 per user per month on an annual subscription, but neither defines "user", and the two disagree on whether a free version exists. The $75 floor is the only figure SchoolCues publishes itself (as of August 2026).

When SchoolCues is the better choice
If parent communication is the single problem you're buying software to solve, SchoolCues is shaped for it: newsletters, yearbooks, alumni management and conference scheduling are real modules there and have no equivalent here. On texting the gap is narrower than it was and it is a pricing gap — theirs is unlimited inside the plan, ours is prepaid at 2.7¢ a text, one-way, from the emergency console and the message composer. A school that texts its families every week should price both. For everything else on a school's plate — the gradebook-to-transcript spine, admissions, billing, and a price you can compute before talking to anyone — the comparison tilts back.
When Pearspark is the better choice

How much does SchoolCues cost?
The only price SchoolCues publishes itself is a floor: "As low as $75.00/mo for a 12-month school year", on a section of its homepage. There is no pricing page and no per-student rate on its site. GetApp and SoftwareAdvice both list a starting price of $1.00 per user per month on an annual subscription, but that figure is the directories', not SchoolCues', and neither says what counts as a user. For comparison, Pearspark publishes its whole schedule: $50/month including 20 students, then $2.50/student stepping down to $1.00 at volume — $62.50 at 25 students, $250 at 100.
Is SchoolCues or Pearspark the better fit for a microschool?
Both explicitly target small schools, and the honest split is by what hurts most. SchoolCues is stronger on reaching families — newsletters, yearbooks, alumni, and texting that is unlimited inside its plan where ours is prepaid at 2.7¢ a text. Pearspark is stronger on the operation around the classroom: standards-based grading, financial aid with sliding-scale awards, lending library, equipment and room booking, volunteer tracking and check-in, and records escrow, most of which appear nowhere in SchoolCues' published module list. Does SchoolCues do report cards and transcripts?
Yes. Its own homepage names "Transcripts & Report Cards" as a module and describes generating online report cards and transcripts, and both SoftwareAdvice and GetApp list them in its feature set. Standards-based grading is a different question — it is not named in anything they publish, so ask directly if per-standard mastery tracking is something you need.
Does SchoolCues charge a setup fee?
It says not. Its homepage lists "No Set Up Fee", "No Training Fee", "No Support Fee" and "No Hidden Charges", with unlimited training and support included. That puts it in the same position as Pearspark, which also has no setup fee — and both compare favorably with Gradelink, which charges $275 to set up and a further $497 for online enrollment.
